2020 reflection

What a year! Here at FBJ we have had to adapt and change to a new way of working.

We really missed flowering the big parties, weddings and events. However, the staff at FBJ have risen to all the constantly changing challenges of 2020, We were extremely grateful to have remained healthy and to have been able to continue trading. Orders for bouquet deliveries shot up which has been lovely, bringing a smile to people's faces, in what has been a difficult year for so many, is what has kept us going.

This prompted us to flower bomb random doorsteps with our jam jar bouquets, it was fun and brought us so much joy to receive messages of gratitude from strangers and we were delighted when other local, small businesses began to do the same.

A huge 2020 thanks must go to the following people. Before Christmas we were sad to see our top florist Nicola leave. She has decided to invest more time into her husband's business. We will miss her but wish them both all the very best and we hope we may see Nicola making a reappearance at the busiest times of the year. Thanks also go to Tom Brown Wholesale who, despite the odds (and the borders closing!), have continued to deliver top quality fresh flowers. Our Saturday girl, Skye, has worked so hard and been a brilliant help, delivering flowers in her own car. I took on Kim part time to get out and about in the flower van, bringing smiles to even more faces. Over Christmas we were lucky enough to have help from my very talented florist friend, Shida. It was cold in the flower shed and a bit stressful at times, but we did it - what a team!

Our hearts go out to the many couples who have had to change, rearrange, postpone or cancel their weddings! Please try not to worry, we will get there, and FBJ are looking forward to creating some beautiful arrangements that will be worth the wait.

Finally our deepest condolences to anyone who has lost family and loved ones in 2020. Whilst we were privileged enough to be able to offer some final goodbye flower arrangements, I can not comprehend how hard it must have been visiting hospitals, organising funerals and choosing who can attend. You are all in our thoughts.

Although 2021 may not be starting off how we would choose, I'm wishing you all a happy and healthy 2021 and hoping that we will be able to hug and see all our friends and family very soon.

Juliette
